He has published articles in many journals and lectured nationally and internationally on periodontal, prosthetic, and surgical implantology procedures, including overseas lectures on immediate dentoalveolar restoration technique. Well known as an educator, researcher, and innovative surgeon, Dr Marx is professor of surgery and chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. As a researcher, he has made valuable contributions in the use of hyperbaric oxygen following radiation therapy, in the development of platelet-rich plasma, and in elucidating the relationships between smoking and carcinogenesis. He also pioneered the clinical applications of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein and stem cell use and was the first to identify what is now known worldwide as bisphosphonate-induced osteonecrosis of the jaws. He has also developed new concepts and treatments for pathologies within OMS as well as new techniques in reconstructive surgery.

William E. Mason, DDS, MS, received his DDS and MS from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1981 and 1984, respectively, and has since managed a private practice specializing in periodontics and dental implants. Since 1991, he has placed over 5,000 dental implants. Dr Mason teaches periodontal residents as a member of the Dean’s Faculty in the Graduate Periodontics Clinic at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and regularly demonstrates surgery to the dental hygiene students at Delta College. Dr Mason has presented lectures to numerous dental societies throughout Michigan and has published articles in several professional journals. He has also developed three dental instruments and patented one of these—the Palatal Anesthesia Device (PAD)—to help alleviate the pain of palatal injections. He is Active Member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, Member of American Academy Restorative Dentistry, Active Member of the American Academy of Microscopy and Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists; he’s  Member Emeritus of Amici di Brugg  and Active Member of Digital Dentistry Society. He wrote “Precision in prosthetic restoration” with A. Battistelli and R. Pascetta (Quintessence) and “Precision in dental aesthetics” with R. Pascetta and G. Romeo (Quintessence) and translated in seven languages. He uses the stereomicroscope since 1988.

Graduated in 2005 with a degree in dentistry. In the year 2010, he obtained a master’s degree in periodontology from the University of Siena. Active member of the Italian Society of Periodontology (SIdP) since 2011. Coordinator of the “young SIdP” group for the 2020–2021 period. Co-author of the chapter “Root Coverage Techniques for Treating Multiple Recessions“ in the Atlas of Periodontology and Implant Therapy of the SIdP (Quintessence Publishing Italia). Collaborates in research and clinical activities with Prof G. Zucchelli at the Department of Periodontology of the University of Bologna. Pamela K. McClain, DDS, maintains a private practice limited to periodontics and is an associate clinical professor in the Department of Surgical Dentistry at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine Anschutz Medical Campus. Dr McClain is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and a past president of the American Academy of Periodontology as well as the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation. She has received a number of prestigious awards for her research, lectures on a variety of topics in the United States and abroad, and has 26 publications in professional journals and books.
