As president of the Chicago Dental Society, and on behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to invite you to the 157th Midwinter Meeting, A Dental Tradition. We look forward to seeing you and your dental team in February 2022, "live and in person," Thursday through Saturday Feb. 24 – 26, 2022. Rest assured we will be monitoring and complying with current health mandates to make sure all our attendees are as safe as possible.

This year’s General Chair, Michelle Jennings, and Program Chair, Mary Starsiak, along with our Scientific Director, Ted Borris, have put together a diverse group of speakers sure to appeal to you and your dental team. The Scientific Program includes more than 150 speakers presenting 250 courses. You will be able to choose from workshops, 3-hour lectures, 1.5-hour lectures and panel discussions. Another opportunity to expand your knowledge is to take advantage of one of the free one-hour sessions at the Corporate Learning Theater, which you will find in the Exhibit Hall. We are also proud to have 47 speakers new to the Midwinter Meeting this year. We truly have something for everyone! We welcome you to visit our expansive and most inclusive Exhibit Hall. Hundreds of exhibitors will be represented, including many new to the Midwinter Meeting. Each is eager to show you the latest innovations in the dental profession. You can even earn one hour of CE per day of the meeting for visiting the exhibitors. New this year, we will extend the exhibit floor hours on Friday evening. Enjoy Brews & Bargains from 4:30-6:30 p.m., our extended “happy hour.” Have a beverage as you explore the Exhibit Hall and visit with one of the numerous companies represented. Friday morning, we will hold the Keynote Session. You can enjoy a morning cup of coffee along with some assorted pastries during a short reception prior to the start of the Keynote Session. A number of awards will be presented, including the Gordon J. Christensen Award. The session will conclude with a keynote address by Scott Swank, DDS – curator of the Dr. Samuel D. Harris National Dental Museum in Baltimore. He will talk about some of the seminal moments in dental history.

Networking is often mentioned as one of the most valuable benefits of participating in the Midwinter Meeting. Take advantage of the many opportunities to visit with your colleagues, classmates and friends. Our New Dentist Event, 10 years or less in practice, gives you a great opportunity to do that networking. To top off the meeting, my wife, Sarah, and I would like to invite you to the Saturday night President’s Dinner Dance. You will enjoy fabulous food, great company and dancing.

As you can see, we do have something for you and your entire dental team at the 157th Midwinter Meeting, A Dental Tradition. See you in Chicago this February!

Thomas Schneider Jr.
2022 CDS President
