Forum by MIS - Biological concepts in preservation of crestal bone around implants Dr. Tomas Linkevičius
Biology has always been important in preserving crestal bone stability. It is connected to the idea of "1 abutment - 1 time", which has been circulating in the dental world for decades. It has been suggested that moving restorative procedures to the abutment level allows no additional abutment disconnection, which in turn, does not disturb the peri-implant seal and produces better bone levels. To achieve this, an intermediary multiunit abutment or CONNECT abutment (MIS) is used. A positive outcome is obvious already at an early stage of the treatment, as multiple disconnections of the healing abutment are inevitable. Furthermore, a 1-year follow-up provides an even better clinical picture, as no bone loss and no bone remodeling is seen. It can be concluded that the use of intermediary multiunit abutments significantly reduces crestal bone loss around subcrestally positioned implants.

The number of concepts on immediate implant rehabilitation in the esthetic zone is steadily growing. At the same time, the world of dentistry is being transformed by digitalization. Both of which help the clinician in their daily routine by increasing precision and saving time. During this lecture, the world-renowned speaker will share, discuss, and highlight clinical advancements on immediate implant rehabilitation in the esthetic zone and how innovative biomaterials can help obtain optimal hard and soft tissue volume for different reconstruction modalities. Special attention will be given to the appropriate planning and selection of the most suitable treatment approach and devices based on the patient's unique anatomic and clinical situations.

Forum by Zimmer Biomet - The Guided Implant Surgery Pathway Dr. Andrea Mastrorosa Agnini, Dr. Alessandro Agnini
Full arch management has it challenges in itself not only from a surgical point of view but especially under a prosthetic stand point. Diagnosis and treatment plan properly these cases play a pivotal role for the final successful outcome. In fact, CBCT software analysis together with all the prosthetic evaluation needed prior the surgical day will be highlighted during the day, bringing then the focus of course specifically on the diagnostic, surgical, and prosthetic procedures that may help to improve the predictability of the overall procedure. Which implant geometry to be used? Which is the rationale behind the choice of placing straight or tilted implants? How many implants are needed and where? We are faced with a multitude of restorative options and during the lecture You will be taken through a full arch restoration and why we chose this particular restoration. Today with the availability of different materials and technologies we can aim to create a restoration that is not only hygiene friendly but retrievable and repairable.

Forum by Nobel Biocare - Direct / Shape / Place. Clinical experience with the Nobel Biocare N1™ implant system Dr. Enrico Agliardi, Prof. Dr. Robert Haas
Biological research has observed that conventional high-speed drilling contributes to bone resorption, owing to the heat and trauma that it causes. It is magnified by having to reduce heat with irrigation, which washes away valuable osteogenic materials.

A simplified approach has been created to replace high-speed drilling with an instrument that slowly rotates to ‘shape’ the osteotomy and eliminates the need for irrigation. In addition to its biological advantages, the technique simplifies the procedure and reduces guesswork, particularly in evaluating bone quality, and it reduces noise and vibration for the patient.

This protocol is just one feature of the full Nobel Biocare N1™ system, which includes new concepts in implant macroshape, surface, prosthetic connections, and emergence profile. In this forum, Profs. Encrico Agliardi and Robert Haas present their clinical experience with the system so far.
