This article summarizes the available literature and presents a case report describing the non-surgical management of this rare entity. An 82-year-old man presented with right ear pain consistent with temporomandibular joint arthralgia associated with occlusal disorders, particularly right lateral open bite, resulting in severe chewing difficulty. The patient reported a sudden onset of symptoms six weeks prior to his first visit at our office. A repositioning splint was initially used to relieve the affected joint and promote healing. Long-term temporary adhesive composite restorations were then used to rehabilitate the patient’s masticatory function. Stable treatment results were observed at the 10-month follow-up visit. In consultation with the patient, no further treatment is planned.
