Dear Friends,
It is such a pleasure to welcome you all to this year’s Annual Scientific Meeting. I am looking forward to seeing you all for what promises once again to be a memorable meeting, where friends old and new are able to share world class dental education and get the opportunity to spend quality time together at the now legendary BAAD social events, which are every bit a part of the meeting as the plenary sessions.
This year’s theme of unlocking and sharing the secrets to achieve the outstanding results that our truly world class renowned speakers share on stage, is at the very core of what BAAD is about and I hope that you will all actively participate in the deeper dive into each lecturer’s respective subject matter during the debates at the end of each session. These provide us all with an opportunity to probe and further explore what was presented on screen. As with all good magic, the mystery is in the “trick” that we don’t know, and it can often be so with our clinical work, it’s only when we know the secret behind the trick that we
can deliver the same results ourselves.
I am very grateful to each of our speakers for supporting BAAD and the spirit in which they do that. BAAD does not provide an honorarium and it is a reflection of the high regard in which the academy is held, that we continue to be graced by such esteemed speakers at BAAD. Meetings such as ours cannot happen without the support we receive from the dental trade and I would like to thank each of our sponsors and trade partners for this. Their commitment to dental excellence and providing us as clinicians with the solutions to deliver that for our patients, is what allows us to continue doing what we do. Please do take the time to visit them at the trade show and show your appreciation.
I look forward to seeing you all at this year’s Friday evening fancy dress dinner where the theme is the world of Harry Potter. I look forward sharing a “butter beer” or two with everyone and trying to guess who is behind each of the ever more creative outfits each year. There is an inordinate amount of work that the Executive Committee put in to supporting me and the organisation of the meeting and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their tireless work and support throughout the year.
