Dr. Debora R. Vilaboa graduated from the Complutense University, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Madrid at the age of 23. On the same year, she was accepted at the Seville School of Dentistry, where she obtained her dental degree on 1984.
Her interest in occlusion, prosthodontics and rehabilitation could not be further developed at the time as the positions for a women in pros and restorative programs were scarce and therefore chose to attend an Advanced Pediatric Dentistry Program at USC. The management of young children has always helped Dr. Vilaboa address Tooth Wear patients, many of them with fear.
Dr. Debora Vilaboa founded the Vilaboa Clinic in 1987 with the certainty that some cases showed what could not be explained by the concepts of caries nor periodontal disease. She started gathering an enormous amount of data, analog at the time, and lectured on Tooth Wear as early as 1992, both in Spain and US.
The incipient adhesive restorative dentistry with scattered promoters still in the 90´s was not an obstacle for Dr. Vilaboa to manage Tooth Wear with an adhesive concept at the time, being a pioneer in the field of porcelain laminate veneers.
She soon became a member of the Spanish Society of Stomatological Prosthetics (SEPES) and the Spanish Society of Periodontology (SEPA). Her passion for patients and continuing education was rewarded when she became an Active Member of the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED). She was then able to fulfill all her restorative –prosthodontic interests thanks to a true collaborative generous exchange of knowledge from the active members and their guests that is still today a driving force for her and her team. Dr. Debora R. Vilaboa is also an Active Member of the Italian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (IAED).
She was invited by the San Pablo CEU University to create an undergraduate Esthetic Dentistry Department where she is co-director with her sister, Beatriz. Dr. Debora R. Vilaboa lectures nationally and internationally in Esthetic Dentistry with her main focus on Tooth Wear Damage. She is Co-Author of the book “Esthetics in Dentistry” Ed. Quintessence International 2016.
Her medical background is behind her devotion to the understanding and treatment of conditions arising from medical and oral unbalances that explains the fact that Debora R. Vilaboa is an active member of the American Academy of Oral Medicine (AAOM) and her dedication to research that has granted her several patents.
She is also a Fellow Member of the International College of Dentists (ICD) and Academic at the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
