Objective: To assess the success of a surgical procedure in gingival enlargement.
Introduction: Chronic inflammatory gingival enlargement is an enlargement of the gingiva as a result of chronic inflammation due to local or systemic factors. The most common local factors appear to be dental plaque and calculus. It has the potential to cause aesthetic, functional, and masticatory disturbances. Phase 1 therapy followed by a surgical procedure is performed to treat these cases.
Methodology : A 32-year-old female patient reported with chronic gingival enlargement on the labial side of the anterior region of both arches. Surgery was performed in both the arches on the regions concerned after completion of phase 1 therapy.
Result: Knife edge margins along with normal shape and size were achieved after surgical therapy.
Conclusion: This report highlights the success of a surgical procedure and the importance of oral hygiene maintenance in gingival enlargement cases. There should be long term follow up to evaluate the tissue response and patient motivation in such cases.

The term ‘hybrid ameloblastoma’ was introduced by Waldron and el-Mofty in 1987, and was discovered as a rare histopathological variant including a combination of the classical follicular or plexiform type along with areas of desmoplastic type. As per the current literature, hybrid ameloblastoma accounts for 1.1%–4.3% of all ameloblastomas. Imaging plays an inevitable role in diagnosis, treatment planning, and assessment of disease progression and prognosis. Depending on the type of ameloblastoma, imaging features vary from unilocular to multilocular lesions, with a characteristic ‘soap bubble’ or ‘honey comb’-like appearance. Three-dimensional imaging modalities like cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) are considered a standard today due to their superiority over the conventional radiographic techniques.
Treatment includes both conservative and radical modalities and purely depends on case selection and the variant of the tumour. Complete surgical removal of the tumour and restoration of function and appearance are the main goal of therapy. The most common treatment modality advocated is resection. Extensive lesions are treated by wide resection with 1 cm margin. But, if the case is not severe, a conservative approach like enucleation and curettage is followed, so as to preserve the integrity of the anatomical structure and prevent disfigurement.
In this poster, we report a case of hybrid ameloblastoma of the mandible with distinct clinical, radiologic, and histopathologic findings in a geriatric male patient. The imaging analysis was done using panoramic radiographs under conventional radiography and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans under advanced imaging modalities. The diagnosis was confirmed with incisional biopsy and the patient was planned for surgical resection with a margin of normal bone.

Background: The selection of a paediatric dentist is an important decision for parents. To fulfil the expectations of patients and parents, it is important to know how parents become aware of the practice and how they select a paediatric dentist for their children.
Aim: This study evaluates the factors influencing parents’ decision when choosing a specific paediatric dental clinic for their child.
Methodology: The questionnaire was designed to evaluate the factors influencing parents’ decision when choosing a specific paediatric dental clinic for their child. The survey contained close-ended questions. The survey instrument was sent to all participants electronically. The collected data was statistically evaluated.
Results: The demographics of the clinician(sex, religion, age, race) have shown no impact on selection of a paediatric dental clinic. Previous negative dental experience from a general dentist was the main reason for visiting a paediatric dentist. Internet portal, recommendation from friends and family, and credentials and experience of the clinicians were the most important features for choosing paediatric dental clinic.
Conclusion: There are various factors that can influence the parents when selecting a paediatric dental clinic for their children. Parents’ satisfaction is one of the most important parameters for selecting a paediatric dental clinic. A major implication of this study is that dentists should consider these factors as a critical component of practice management.

Palatal swellings can at times be a challenging task for a clinician to diagnose. A mass or swelling of the palate can result from developmental, inflammatory, reactive, or neoplastic processes. For differential diagnosis, swellings must be considered based on their location (anterior or posterior surface of hard palate or soft palate), by its origin (congenital or acquired), by its consistency (soft, firm or hard), and by its border (diffuse or localized). Swellings of odontogenic origin are very common, but palatal abscess may mimic a minor salivary gland tumour or radicular cyst and can be difficult to diagnose. The presence of numerous minor salivary gland tissues in the posterior part of the hard palate increases the possibility of neoplasms. Salivary gland neoplasms can be aggressive, and most of their clinical features often overlap; hence, a detailed examination and clinical investigation should be carried out in order to reach a definitive conclusion. Radiology is an important diagnostic tool, especially CBCT, for salivary gland pathology in the detection of malignancies, particularly for those cases with extensive bony involvement, and can provide foresight into the treatment planning and be a valuable tool in assessing the clinical picture. Eventually, biopsy of the mass or swelling is necessary for definitive diagnosis and to determine the palatal management. This poster discusses two cases of with a similar clinical appearance.

Odontogenic myxoma is a rare intraosseous neoplasm that is benign but locally aggressive. It rarely appears in any bone other than the jaws. It is considered to be derived from the mesenchymal portion of the tooth germ. Clinically, it is a slow-growing, expansile, painless, tumour of the jaws, chiefly the mandible. Here we report the case of an odontogenic myxoma in a 20-year-old male patient, which had acquired large dimensions and involved the entire mandible including the ramus, resulting in a gross facial asymmetry and swelling within a span of six months. No history of trauma and relevant dental and systemic history were present.
The diagnosis consists of clinical findings along with a radiographic study including orthopantomogram, cone beam computed tomography, and computed tomography, but which has been confirmed by histologic analysis; proper histopathological diagnosis is required for efficient management. Radiographic features showed multilocular radiolucency with a tennis racket pattern with cortical plate expansion. The treatment of odontogenic myxoma is primarily surgical and varies from simple enucleation and curettage to more extensive radical surgery. Long-term follow-up is required due to the high risk of recurrence.

Fibromyxoid tumour is an uncommon soft tissue and bone neoplasm. Clinically, it usually presents as a slowly enlarging, circumscribed mass which is often painless. Odontogenic fibromyxoid tumour is most frequently found within the subcutaneous tissues of the extremities or trunk, and rarely seen in the oral/head and neck region. A 32-year-old female patient presented with a chief complaint of slowly enlarging palatal swelling on the right side, which was painless. The patient had difficulty eating. Examination revealed localised, painless, non-tender swelling present in the palate with a displacement of the second molar and without regional lymph node involvement. Radiological imaging showed cortical bone expansion and bony erosion in the right maxillary sinus and maxilla. It was provisionally diagnosed as a minor salivary gland tumour of the right palate. Incisional biopsy showed proliferation of spindle and stellate-shaped fibroblasts, and some of the cells exhibit focal mild atypia. The patient has been planned for maxillectomy with long-term follow-up.
