Das Ergebnis einer implantologischen Behandlung hängt von der Stabilität des krestalen Knochens ab. Sie gilt als Schlüsselfaktor dafür, ob eine Behandlung erfolgreich ist oder versagen wird. In diesem Buch werden Techniken und Konzepte vorgestellt, die darauf abzielen, eine Implantatversorgung ohne Knochenverlust zu erreichen. Es besteht aus zwei Teilen – Chirurgie und Prothetik – und orientiert sich damit an der realen klinischen Behandlung. Im chirurgischen Teil wird der stabile krestale Knochen thematisiert, der durch verschiedene Faktoren wie die vertikale Weichgewebedicke, die Positionierung des Implantats sowie die Art der Implantat-Abutment-Verbindung bedingt wird. Im zweiten Teil werden die prothetischen Konzepte vorgestellt, die durch Faktoren wie Abutmentform und -material, Verblendmaterial, Zementierung oder Verschraubung zur Knochenstabilität beitragen.

Der Autor ist fest davon überzeugt, dass sich der Knochen mithilfe verschiedener chirurgischer und prothetischer Lösungen stabilisieren lässt und zieht dafür nicht nur klinische Befunde und Fallberichte, sondern überwiegend kontrollierte klinische Studien und sorgfältig geplante In-vitro-Studien heran. Damit erhält der Leser mit diesem Buch genau das, was er benötigt: klinische Verfahren, die durch solide klinische Evidenz gestützt werden.

Dr. Tomas Linkevicius has received DDS degree in 2000 in Kaunas University, Lithuania. In 2004 he finished post-graduate program in prosthodontics in Vilnius University. In 2009 he has defended theses “The influence of mucosal tissue thickness on crestal bone stability around dental implants” and received PhD degree in Riga Stradins University, Latvia. Currently, dr. Tomas Linkevicius serves as Assoc. Professor in Institute of Odontology, Vilnius University. He also works in private practice “Vilnius Implantology Center” and is a founder of private research center “Vilnius Research Group”. Dr. Tomas Linkevicius serves as a reviewer in dental journals, like “International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants”, “Journal of Periodontology”, “Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research” and “Journal of Clinical Periodontology”. He is the author and co-author of many articles in international journals, indexed in PubMed.
