Prof. Dr. Dr. Peer Kämmerer is an oral, maxillofacial and plastic surgeon working at the University of Mainz, Germany as Medical Director of the Department of Oral-, Maxillofacial- and Facial Plastic Surgery. He is certified specialist for oral, maxillofacial and plastic surgery (medical degree), for oral surgery (dental degree), for special pain therapy in the head and neck area (medical), specialist for dental implantology (dental) and specialist for plastic surgery (medical). So far, he has written more than 300 peer-revied scientific articles and reviews covering the topics facial reconstruction, oral cancer, dental implantology including bone augmentation as well as local anesthesia. He is author of several German textbooks covering dental implantology and dental local anesthesia.

Asso. Prof. Ioannis K. Karoussis DDS, MSc, Dr. med Dent, FICD, FITI.

Dr Karoussis was born in Athens (1969). He graduated from the Dental School, University of Athens, with an honorary degree in 1994. His Post Graduate studies at the University of Athens (1996-1999) led to a Specialization Degree in Periodontology as well as an Honorary Master’s Degree in Oral Biology. He continued his postgraduate studies in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at the University of Berne, Switzerland, where he completed his Doctoral Thesis (2002) and in parallel he worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor. He continued his professional developent by completing a Mastership Course in Laser Applications in Dentistry, at the RWTH Aachen University (2012-2013). Since 2004, he has been working at the University of Athens with positions of increasing responsibility, starting as a Lecturer of Periodontology; in 2009 he became Assistant Professor with a Tenure position in 2012; in 2017 he was promoted to Asssociate Professor. In addition, he served as Clinical Director of the Postgraduate Clinic for Periodontology, from 2009 to 2016. Since 2016 he is the Director of the Lab for tissues and cells cultures of the Department of Periodontology, University of Athens. He has been awarded with national and international scholarships and prizes. Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) since 2002, Fellow of the International College of Dentists (2009), President of the Hellenic Society of Odontostomatological Research (2019), and Editor of the Greek Journal of Odontostomatological Progress (2019). His scientific work includes more than 100 publications in Greek and international scientific journals, book chapters in Greek and international books, cinical guidelines in three languages, a research monograph titled: Effect of Nd: YAG laser irradiation on the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts cultured on titanium surfaces, a two-volume textbook for Periodontology and Implantology in the Greek language, a textbook titled „100 steps in Periodontology“ and a book about the 70 years of history of the Hellenic Society of Odontostomatological Research. Since 2003 he runs a private practice, specializing in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. He has performed numerous applications of the EMS technology in terms of GBT for therapy and maintenance of periodontal patients and during therapy of peri-implantitis. In his book (under publication) he suggests a modification of the CIST protocol (by Lang and Mombelli), for the treatment of peri-implantitis, where Air Flow and Perio Flow with the use of erythritol are applied as a standard procedure.

Christos Katsaros

Christos Katsaros obtained his dental degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and received his four-year orthodontic training at the University of Saarland, Germany, where he also completed his doctoral degree (Dr. med. dent.) and "Habilitation." He worked as a researcher at Göteborg University, Sweden, where he completed an Odont. Dr./ Ph.D. From 2000 to 2002, he served as an Associate Professor and from 2002 to 2008 as a Professor of Orthodontics at the Department of Orthodontics and Oral Biology, Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Since 2008 he has held the position of Professor and Chair at the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, University of Bern, Switzerland.

J. Robert Kelly DDS, MS, DMedSc

J. Robert Kelly, DDS, MS, DMedSc, teaches graduate prosthodontics and biomaterials at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut. This follows a 21-year career with the US Navy, culminating in a tour as Commanding Officer, Naval Dental Research Institute. Dr Kelly earned his DDS from The Ohio State University, an MS in dental materials science from Marquette University, and a DMedSc in oral biology and a certificate in prosthodontics from Harvard/MIT. He is the incoming chairman of the ADA Standards Commitee on Dental Products, president of the Academy of Dental Materials, and past president of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, and he has received awards for biomedical research (Harvard), for research and postgraduate education (Association of Military Surgeons of the US), and as a clinician/scholar (American College of Prosthodontists). Dr Kelly has contributed to the dental, engineering, and medical literature, holds eight patents, frequently lectures before national and international dental and engineering organizations, still does some of his own porcelain, and keeps his fingers wet practicing prosthodontics.

Dental studies in Freiburg from 1980 to 1985, completed PhD in 1987, worked in the prosthodontics department of the dental clinic in Freiburg from 1985 to 1991 and 1994 to 1997. Conducted research funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, USA, from 1991 to 1993. Achieved habilitation in 1995. Appointed as director of the Department of Dental Prosthetics, Propaedeutics, and Materials Science at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel in 1997. Became chairman of the Schleswig-Holstein Society for Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (SHGZMK) in 2004. Served as vice president of the German Society of Prosthetic Dentistry and Biomaterials (DGPro) from 2008 to 2012, and as president of the DGPro from 2012 to 2016. In December 2011, became the first German scientist to receive the Schweitzer Research Award from the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics (GNYAP). Research interests include adhesive prosthodontics, all-ceramic restorations, implantology, and materials science.
