Prof. Dr. Dr. Bilal Al-Nawas

Professor Dr. med. Dr. med. dent. Bilal Al-Nawas is Chairman of the Department of Oral, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery at the J. Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany. He has been Adjunctive Associate Professor at Kyung Hee University School of Dentistry, Seoul, Korea since 2009. Professor Al-Nawas’ major clinical and scientific focus in dental implantology is on clinical studies and basic research. His clinical field of work is compromised patients with risk factors or local bone deficiency, as well as tumor and cleft reconstructions. He has published over 200 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He sits on the ITI Board of Directors and the ITI Research Committee, is an ITI Fellow and ITI Education Delegate of the ITI Section Germany. He was twice awarded “Best Teacher at the Medical Faculty”. He is Past President of the International Federation of Dental Anesthesiology Societies (IFDAS) and Secretary General of the German Society of Implantology (DGI).

Prof. Dr. Tomas Albrektsson

Tomas Albrektsson joined P I Branemark's team in 1967 and has since been active in applied osseointegration research of oral, craniofacial and orthopedic implants. Albrektsson graduated from Gothenburg University (MD:1975; PhD:1979) where he has served as Professor & Head of the department of Biomaterials from 1986. He has been a visiting professor at Eastman Dental, University College of London since 1998, Laney visiting professor of the Mayo clinic in the US in 2008, is a visiting professor in the prosthodontics department of Malmö University and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He has presented more than 1100 lectures and published scientific and clinical papers in various peer-reviewed journals.

Prof. Dr. Michael M. Bornstein

Michael Bornstein has been appointed in 2016 as Clinical Professor in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR, China. He is also Visiting Professor at the OMFS-IMPATH Research Group, Department of Imaging and Pathology, University of Leuven, Belgium. He obtained his dental degree (1998) and thesis (Dr. med. dent., 2001) at the University of Basel. He continued with a specialisation in oral surgery and stomatology in Basel (1998–1999, Prof. Dr. Dr. J. Th. Lambrecht) and Bern (2000–2002, Prof. Dr. D. Buser). In 2004, he was visiting assistant professor at the Department of Periodontics (Prof. Dr. D. Cochran) at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, USA, with a grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation. From 2007–2014 he was head of the Section of Dental Radiology and Stomatology, University of Bern. In 2009, he obtained the Habilitation (Privatdozent / PhD) and in 2014 he became Asscociate Professor in the field of "Oral Surgery and Stomatology". His fields of research include cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in clinical dental practice, stomatology/oral medicine, GBR procedures with bioresorbable membranes and dental implants. He has published over 100 original articles, and is the author / co-author of numerous case reports, review articles, and book chapters.

Prof. em. Dr. med. dent. Daniel Buser DDS

Daniel Buser, DDS, Prof em Dr med dent, is one of the most experienced international implant surgeons, with 35 years of surgical experience. He is past professor and chairman in the Department of Oral Surgery at the University of Bern in Switzerland and past president of the European Association for Osseointegration, the Swiss Society of Oral Implantology, the Swiss Society of Oral Surgery and Stomatology, and the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the ITI Honorary Fellowship and the Morton Amsterdam Award. He has authored and coauthored over 400 publications and is editor of 30 Years of Guided Bone Regeneration (Quintessence, 2021), which was recently published in its third edition. Dr Buser is cofounder of the Buser & Sculean Academy, which offers continuing education courses in periodontology and implant dentistry, and lectures nationally and internationally.

In 2006 he worked as Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Periodontics at the University of Texas Heath Science Center at San Antonio, USA (Chairman: Prof. Dr. D. Cochran). 2008 he finalized his "Habilitation" (venia legendi) in dental medicine and was appointed at the University of Zürich. In 2011 he became his PhD doctorate degree of the University of Amsterdam, ACTA dental school, The Netherlands. In 2013 he worked as Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterials Sciences at Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, USA. In 2015 he has been promoted to full Professorship for Implantology at the University of Zurich. He is an accomplished and internationally renowned lecturer and researcher, best known for his work in the field of hard and soft tissue management and his research on new technologies in implant dentistry. He is currently Treasurer of the EAO, Past President of the Swiss Society of Reconstructive Dentistry, member of the Board of Directors of the Osteology Foundation and active Member of the EAED.

Richard J. Miron, DDS, MSc, PhD is currently the lead educator and researcher at Advanced PRF Education and is Adjunct Visiting Faculty in the Department of Periodontology at the University of Bern, Switzerland, where he completed his PhD studies. He has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and lectures internationally on many topics relating to growth factors, bone biomaterials, and guided bone regeneration. Widely considered to be one of the top contributors to research in dentistry, Dr Miron was recognized as the top-ranked researcher on PRF therapy in 2020 according to Expertscape independent review. Prof. Dr. Nicola Zitzmann PhD

Nicola Zitzmann is Professor and Chair of the Department of Reconstructive Dentistry at the University of Basel, Switzerland, and is a research group leader within the Department of clinical research (DKF). From 1994 to 1997, she received her postgraduate training at the Department of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and Dental Material Sciences in Zurich, Switzerland (Prof. P. Schärer). From 1997, N. Zitzmann worked as Assistant Professor at the Department of Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics and TMJ Disorders at the University of Basel (Switzerland) and completed her habilitation thesis (equivalent to Ph.D.) entitled “Prosthodontic treatment of the edentulous patient with particular consideration given to implant-supported restorations” in 2004. Nicola Zitzmann has been a Visiting Assistant at the Department of Periodontology at the University of Göteborg, Sweden (Proffs. J. Lindhe and T. Berglundh), and achieved her Ph.D. degree in the field of Periodontology in 2006. She is past-president of the International College of Prosthodontics, chaired the ITI section Switzerland until 2021, and is board member of the Swiss Society of Oral Implantology (SGI) and the Swiss Society of Reconstructive Dentistry (SSRD). N. Zitzmann is an associate editor of Clinical Oral Implants Research and authored more than 160 original publications, 80 papers and book chapters. She received the Jan Lindhe Research Award in 2014 for her scientific achievements in implant dentistry.
